Street flooding was reported Saturday near the Bel Air Country Club due to a broken water main, authorities said.

A 12-inch water pipe was reported to have broken open at 1:42 p.m. in the 10900 block of Chalon Road, according to Terry Schneider of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

LADWP crews were on scene assessing the situation, Schneider said.

The number of customers affected was not available but they were experiencing low water pressure rather than a halt in service, she said.

She could not confirm a Los Angeles Fire Department report that at least one home was threatened with damage when street flooding occurred.
