The Coroner’s Office Saturday released the name of a 58- year-old man who was killed while driving a Vespa motor scooter in a crash on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Inglewood.
The motorist was identified as Robert Keitzman of Lomita, said Lt. Dave Smith of the coroner’s office.
The crash was reported at 1:46 a.m. Friday near Florence Avenue, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman. Keitzman died at the scene, he said.
Keitzman was on a 2006 Vespa L200 motor scooter when he lost control and landed in the roadway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two unknown vehicles were believed to have struck him, along with a 2000 Honda Accord LX driven by a 41-year-old motorist from Long Beach who stopped to cooperate with authorities, the CHP said.
The CHP issued a SigAlert, closing down all southbound lanes until just before 6 a.m. Friday
Anyone with information helpful to the ongoing investigation was asked to call the West Los Angeles CHP Office at (310) 642-3939.
