Two vehicles struck and killed a 55-year-old man in unincorporated Athens, the California Highway Patrol said Friday.

A vehicle was going westbound on El Segundo Boulevard about 9:40 p.m. Thursday when it struck Beato Roblero, who was crossing El Segundo Boulevard from Denker Avenue, the CHP reported.

The impact sent Roblero into the eastbound lanes of traffic, where he was struck by a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe, authorities said.  Roblero, a resident of Gardena, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities did not immediately say what became of the drivers following Roblero’s death. The CHP’s West Los Angeles office asked anyone who saw the crash to call (310) 642-3939.
