An Arizona man not wearing a seat belt was seriously injured when he was ejected from his pickup truck in a solo freeway crash Tuesday in the barren desert about 80 miles east of Palm Springs.
Turner Kallen, 22, of Gilbert, was airlifted to a hospital after his 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 crashed just after 8 a.m. on westbound Interstate 10 near the small town of Desert Center, west of state Route 177, said California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Radford.
Kallen’s truck, for unknown reasons, “traveled into the center divider and overturned,” Radford said.
The motorist, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was flown to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected in the crash, according to Radford.
