A motorcyclist hit by a truck in Cathedral City was hospitalized Wednesday with serious injuries, police said.

The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday just outside the Chevron gas station at 22600 Palm Drive, just north of Interstate 10, according to Cathedral City police Cmdr. Paul Herrera.

The motorcyclist was exiting the gas station onto Palm Drive when a “light-duty truck” struck the bike as the rider was merging into northbound traffic.

The motorcyclist, whose name was not released, “was severely injured,” Herrera said.

No arrests have been made in connection with the crash, which remains under investigation by the Cathedral City Police Department.
