A suspicious item, possibly a pressure cooker, was found Friday on a sidewalk in Santa Clarita, prompting an arson-explosive squad to be called to the scene.

The items was found about 2:25 p.m. in the area of Newhall Ranch Road and West Rye Canyon roads, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The item resembled a pressure cooker, according to Deputy Charles Moore of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau, who said the Sheriff’s Arson-Explosives unit was summoned to investigate.

No evacuations were ordered, but some streets in the area were closed and the investigation continued, Moore said.
