A male car-theft suspect was in custody Saturday after a six-hour standoff on a residential roof with deputies in Norwalk.
The suspect allegedly was involved with attempted carjackings in the area before 3 p.m. Friday. Authorities tried to arrest the suspect, but he broke away and fled to a roof near Studebaker Road and Kenny Street.
A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy suffered minor injuries during the scuffle, according to media reports.
During the lengthy standoff, the suspect jumped to at least two other rooftops, but deputies maintained a perimeter around him.
No weapon was seen during the carjacking attempts, but crisis negotiators are at the scene as a precaution, reports said.
Sheriff’s deputies have a female accomplice in custody.
