A fire at a La Quinta home brought down a portion of the building’s roof Friday before firefighters were able to get the blaze under control.
The non-injury fire broke out at 7:11 a.m. at a 2,040 square-foot home in the 48000 block of Via Solana.
Nearly two dozen county firefighters who responded discovered “an active fire from the roof, and a significant roof collapse,” said April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.
Fire crews contained the flames at around 8 a.m., Newman said.
The fire, which caused an estimated $500,000 in damage, displaced one resident.
