The death of a man in Alhambra, which was deemed suspicious after he was found bleeding from his head in the backyard of his residence, was being investigated Friday by sheriff’s homicide detectives.

It wasn’t immediately known how the man died or how he sustained the head injury. But the cause of death, which was reported around 4:40 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of South Sierra Vista Avenue, will be determined by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Deputy Trina Schrader of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which was assisting Alhambra police in the death investigation.

When investigators entered the residence at the location, they found the home was divided into eight bedrooms, with three additional bedrooms in the garage, Schrader said. These rooms were being rented out to residents of Chinese descent, four of whom were located at the home and agreed to be taken to the Alhambra Police Station to be interviewed, she said.

All residents spoke Chinese and were being interviewed with the help of a Chinese interpreter, she added. No arrests were reported and the investigation was ongoing.
