The suspect sought in the shooting death of a 26- year-old man in a Hollywood Hills apartment building was arrested Thursday.
The FBI and Los Angeles Police Department Fugitive Task Force arrested 39-year-old Gregory Baranovsky of Los Angeles around 3:25 p.m. near the 3000 block of Temple Street in the slaying of Yuvini Cortez, police said.
Cortez was gunned down about 2:30 p.m. Monday in the 2000 block of Argyle Avenue, east of Vine Street. Officers responded to a call of a shooting and found Cortez suffering from a gunshot wound to his body, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Investigators believe Baranovsky was committing a burglary when he shot and killed Cortez, who was working as a maintenance employee at the apartment complex, according to police.
Cortez was pronounced dead at the scene.
Baranovsky was booked on suspicion of murder and is being held without bail, police said.
The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office for filing consideration on Monday.
