A burning house collapsed around a person as firefighters made a rescue in unicorporated Murrieta Sunday, and the occupant was seriously injured.
The blaze was reported at 1:14 p.m. in the 39000 block of Cardiff Avenue, said Tawny Cabral of the Riverside County Fire Department.

Fire crews entered the burning single-story, single-family home and rescued a trapped adult, who was later hospitalized in serious condition, according to Cabral.
It took over an hour for the 29 firefighters on the ground to contain the fire, and the home sustained major damage, including a partial roof collapse, she said.
