A man was struck by a vehicle and later died of his injuries at a nearby hospital, according to Anaheim police.

Officers took the man to a hospital after he was hit by a silver car, said to be either a Honda or an Acura TL, on Brookhurst Street south of Ball Road at 9:38 p.m. Saturday, Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt said.

The man, believed to be in his 50s, was suffering from major injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital, the sergeant said.

Police determined the suspect vehicle was traveling north on Brookhurst, heading away from Cerritos Avenue, when it struck the man.

Northbound Brookhurst Street was closed for nearly three hours during the investigation.

The car is missing a driver’s side mirror and may have left front end damage, Wyatt said.
