Authorities Friday released the name of the man suspected of shooting at a Pomona police SWAT team that was assisting Azusa police in serving a search warrant at a residence near the 5500 block of Lark Ellen Avenue.
At about 4 a.m. Thursday, gunfire erupted from inside the house and the Pomona officers returned fire and retreated to safety, according to sheriff’s Deputy Trina Schrader. The Pomona SWAT team was taking part in the operation at the request of Azusa police.
The gunman, identified as Jorge Galvez, 20, was arrested at the scene, Schrader said, adding that detectives found a firearm at the location.
Galvez was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held in lieu of a million dollars bail, Schrader said.
No one was hurt in the exchange of gunfire.
