The coroner’s office Sunday released the name of a woman struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in North Hills.

Karen McCauley, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner’s office said.

She was outside of a crosswalk walking westbound on Plummer Street at Sepulveda Boulevard around midnight Friday when she was struck by a black BMW going southbound, according to Officer Norma Eisenman with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.

McCauley’s body was found 150 feet from the intersection and the car may have been traveling at 80 mph at the time of the crash, NBC4 reported.

A good Samaritan followed the BMW on Plummer Street to the San Diego (405) Freeway before losing contact with the car, ABC7 reported.
