A man was fatally shot Monday evening in Pomona, at least the second fatal shooting in the city in four days.
The shooting near the intersection of Fourth Street and Caswell Avenue was reported at 7:16 p.m., according to Pomona police.
Responding officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a hospital where he later died, police said.
The victim was between 25 and 30 years old, Pomona police Lt. Marcus Perez said. The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
A motive for the shooting was unknown and no suspect information was available.
“Witnesses have all been very uncooperative,” Lopez said. “This evening investigators are at the scene trying to turn up some information on the suspects that will help us identify them.”
Lopez also said he was “leaning towards this being a gang shooting” but he couldn’t confirm that.
Monday’s shooting came three days after Nathan Ware, 34, of Pomona, was found wounded at 8 p.m. Friday in the 1400 block of Edgehill Drive near Montvue Park and died that night in a hospital.
Investigators determined Ware was walking near his home when he was confronted by an unknown number of suspects, who fired several rounds striking him in the upper torso, Pomona Police Department Sgt. Jon Edson said.
Lopez said there was no connection between the two shootings.
Anyone with information on either shooting was asked to call Pomona police at (909) 620-2085. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
