A pursuit of a stolen car suspect in South Los Angeles ended with one person in custody, but the driver and other passengers who were in the vehicle remain on the loose, authorities said Wednesday.
Deputies attempted to stop a suspected stolen vehicle near Manchester Avenue and Figueroa Street about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, but the driver fled, according to Deputy Armando Viera of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The suspect crashed into another vehicle during the pursuit, before stopping at 89th Street and Broadway Avenue, where the driver and four passengers in the vehicle fled on foot, Viera said.
A containment area was established and a female passenger was arrested and a loaded gun was recovered, he said.
The driver and the other passengers were not found, said Viera.
A description of the driver or passengers was not immediately available.
No injuries were reported.
