Authorities Thursday are seeking the public’s help in identifying and locating a woman who tried to coax a student at an elementary school in Santa Monica to come with her.
Sometime after 1:15 p.m. on Aug. 23, a student at Roosevelt Elementary School, 801 Montana Ave., was waiting to be picked up by his mother near the 9th Street gate of the school when he was approached by a woman in her 30s, who tried to talk him into leaving with her, the Santa Monica Police Department reported.
The boy thought the action was suspicious, did not know who she was and stood his ground. The woman walked to a black SUV — which police described as possibly an Audi SUV — parked against the curb on Ninth Street. She was last seen driving southbound on Ninth Street.
The boy described the woman as 5-feet to 5 feet 4 inches tall, with short black or brown hair in a ponytail with a dark skin tone. She last was seen wearing a pink button-down, long-sleeve shirt, a white skirt and a brown beaded necklace.
She had either a British or Australian accent, authorities said.
Her vehicle was described as a black SUV with tinted windows and an emblem with four interlocking rings on the rear of the SUV, a description that most like describes an Audi SUV, police said.
Santa Monica police asked anyone with any information regarding the woman or her vehicle to call them at (310) 458-8947.
