A 41-year-old convicted flasher pleaded guilty Tuesday — in his first appearance in court — to touching himself in public in Orange and was immediately sentenced to a year in jail.
Rodrigo Cesar Novillo, who is a registered sex offender, was arrested Friday after touching himself in public by some stairs in the 1200 block of West Chapman Avenue about 2 p.m., said Sgt. Phil McMullin of the Orange Police Department.
At his arraignment Tuesday Novillo accepted a plea bargain and admitted misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
When Novillo was arrested Friday he had methamphetamine on him, McMullin said.
Novillo was originally charged with a felony count of indecent exposure based on his prior conviction for misdemeanor indecent exposure April 7, 2014. Jurors at that trial also found him guilty of child annoyance. Novillo was sentenced April 18, 2014, to a year in jail.
Novillo pleaded guilty in September 2016 to a felony count of attempted burglary and single misdemeanor counts each of assault and battery and was sentenced to 18 months in prison, according to court records.
