A 43-year-old pedestrian was killed Wednesday morning in a hit-and-run in Irwindale.
Officers and Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded about 6:10 a.m. to a report of a non-responsive man down in a driveway in the 5600 block of Peck Road, according to the Irwindale Police Department.
Upon arrival, officers located the man, who had suffered “multiple traumatic injuries,” according to Irwindale Police Sgt. Rudy Gatto.
Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified him as Oscar Alfonso Sapien, who was believed to have been homeless.
“A subsequent investigation by the Irwindale Police Department’s detective bureau ultimately revealed the deceased male was a pedestrian in the area who had been struck by a vehicle,” Gatto said. “The vehicle did not remain at the scene and has not been located.”
Traffic was routed from the area while an investigation was conducted.
Anyone with information that could help investigators identify the driver was urged to contact Irwindale Police Detective Cpl. Armando Lopez Jr. at (626) 460-2290, or email@example.com.
