Rewards totaling $20,000 will be offered Thursday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects responsible for the shooting death of an East Los Angeles College basketball player just hours after he turned 20.

Saieed Stecoo Ivey was shot to death by an unknown suspect around 4:30 a.m. June 9 as he sat in his vehicle in the parking lot of his apartment complex in the 800 block of El Repetto Drive in Monterey Park, according to Deputy Lillian Peck of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors approved a $10,000 reward and a second $10,000 reward was sponsored by Ivey’s family and friends. Each reward is offered in exchange for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects responsible for Ivey’s death.
