The California Highway Patrol Saturday issued an Amber Alert for a man believed to have kidnapped his child and ex-girlfriend in Upland.
Fifteen-month-old Xavier Alexander and his mother were last seen with Brandon Alexander, 31, at about 5:45 a.m. at 1400 Sunrise Circle North, Upland police said.
Police responded to a call of someone screaming for help and found a man in his 20s who appeared to have been in an altercation and was bleeding, police said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Officers learned the victim of the assault was visiting a woman when her ex-boyfriend entered the home and assaulted the victim. The officers looked for the mother and baby but could not locate them.
Police believe Brandon Alexander took the woman and child against their will and they have not had any communication with family or friends since.
Alexander is under supervision for domestic violence and the woman who is missing had a restraining order against him.
The Amber Alert is for Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, Kern, Inyo, San Bernardino and Imperial counties, authorities said.
Xavier Alexander is white, 2 feet 6 inches tall, about 30 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. Brandon Alexander is white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 240 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
Police did not identify or describe the woman, but a photo indicated she is white with long brown hair.
The father is believed to be driving a gray 2017 Jeep Renegade with California license 8DQT883. He should be considered armed and dangerous, authorities said.

Do not try to detain the suspect, police said.
