A man was shot and killed in South Los Angeles and detectives questioned the suspected shooter Tuesday.

Deputies responded about 9:50 p.m. Monday to a gunshot victim call in the 2100 block of West 109th Place and upon arrival located the victim, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the upper torso and was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspected shooter, who lives at the location, was detained by detectives for questioning and the weapon used in the shooting was recovered at the scene, he said.

A motive for the shooting is unknown and no other injuries were reported.
