A man and woman found dead at a La Quinta home this week have been identified, authorities said Wednesday.

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as Herman Heintz, 59 and Ada Heintz, 44.

Their bodies were found around 9 a.m. Monday behind a home in the 79700 block of Independence Way, according to a statement from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies responded and found the two bodies, but information on the cause of their deaths was not disclosed. The sheriff’s department did not say whether foul play is suspected, but stressed in a statement that “there is no threat to public safety as a result of this incident.”

Kayla Adkins, who told The Desert Sun she is Ada Heintz’s niece, said she’s still waiting for details about how the pair died.

“We honestly don’t know anything,” Adkins said. “We just know as much as the public does.”

Adkins said the couple’s dog was missing after the discovery of the bodies but was found Tuesday afternoon.
