A man was shot while driving a vehicle in East Los Angeles Monday and died at the scene, authorities said.

The shooting was reported about 1 a.m. in the 530 block of South Atlantic Avenue, Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

He may have crashed into parked cars, Capt. John Butorovich of the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives were investigating, Koerner said.
