A teenage boy was fatally wounded and a 34-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to the leg while they were inside a garage in the rear alley of a Long Beach home, and police Friday asked anyone with information about the drive-by shooting to contact them.
The vehicle involved in the shooting attack was described as a light-colored, four-door sedan, according to Arantxa Chavarria, public information officer with the Long Beach Police Department. No suspect descriptions were released, and police said a motive was unknown.
The victims were in a garage that faces the alley at a residence in the 1000 block of East 11th Street when several shots were fired from an occupant of the eastbound sedan about 5:15 p.m. Thursday, Chavarria said.
Officers responding to the gunfire located the 17-year-old boy in the alley suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The woman was located inside the home with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg, she said.
Paramedics rushed the boy to an area hospital, where he died, she said.
The names of the victims, both Long Beach residents, were not released.
Homicide detectives asked anyone with any information regarding the shooting to call them at (562) 570-7244.
