The passenger in a car that struck a motorcycle in Palm Springs and fled the scene was injured when the car subsequently crashed into a fire hydrant, authorities said Saturday.
The car side-swiped a motorcycle at 8:10 p.m. Friday in a parking lot around South Palm Canyon Drive and Camino Parocela, Palm Springs police said.
The driver of the car crashed into a fire hydrant while leaving the scene, police said.
Mark Scott, 31, of Palm Springs was arrested on suspicion of DUI, hit and run and a parole violation, police said.
The motorcyclist and Scott were not hurt but a passenger in the car was taken to a hospital with major injuries, police said.
South Palm Canyon Drive was closed between Camino Parocela and Sunny Dunes Road for the investigation but was later reopened, police said.
