A 17-year-old boy driving a black 2019 Mercedes-Benz C300 was arrested on suspicion of murder for allegedly triggering a multi-vehicle crash in Woodland Hills that killed one person and injured three others, authorities said Saturday.

The teenager was going westbound on Ventura Boulevard on Friday night when he failed to stop for a red light at Winnetka Avenue and hit the driver’s-side door of a dark green Toyota Tacoma pickup, according to Officer Rosario Cervantes of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section.

The Mercedes then went into oncoming traffic, where it struck a blue Lexus and a silver Ford Expedition, Cervantes said.

Firefighters responded to the 20100 block of Ventura Boulevard near Winnetka Avenue around 10 p.m. and located four people, one of whom was declared dead at the scene, according to Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Two other victims were seriously injured and one suffered minor injuries, Humphrey said.

The fatality was the driver in the pickup truck. The driver in the Mercedes and his passenger were taken to an area hospital, where their conditions were not immediately known, Cervantes said.
