A 14-year-old human trafficking victim was rescued in Pomona, authorities said Friday morning.
Members of the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force conducted a vice operation in the Holt Corridor Thursday and in the course of the operation encountered and rescued the victim, according to police Cpl. J. Hernandez.
The victim was interviewed and officers worked to identify the human trafficker, believed to be the victim’s pimp, Hernandez said.
“The Pomona Police Department takes a zero tolerance approach to human trafficking and sexual exploitation,” the department said in a statement.
Minors found in prostitution sweeps or vice operations are customarily turned over to social service agencies instead of being arrested.
Anyone with information regarding the location of the human trafficker was asked to call the Pomona Police Department at (909) 620-2085.
