A suspected drunk driver was in custody Wednesday morning, accused of crashing into a BMW dealership in North Hollywood and sparking a small fire inside the business.
A woman driving a red Subaru northbound in the 4200 block of Lankershim Boulevard, near Valley Spring Lane, lost control of the vehicle around 2 a.m. and crashed into the dealership, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The crash ignited a fire in the building.
“The fire was small, in general, but smoke charged inside the building and set the sprinklers off,” Los Angeles Fire Department Battalion Chief Thomas Gikas told ABC7. “Some vehicles were damaged.”
Among the vehicles damaged was a BMW i8, which has a list price of about $150,000.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
No serious injuries were reported.
