A woman was killed and a man suffered life-threatening injuries in a two-vehicle crash that possibly involved street racing in the Athens Village community of unincorporated Los Angeles County, authorities said Sunday.
The two-vehicle crash occurred on eastbound 131st Street and Towne Avenue, where the California Highway was dispatched to the location at 10:24 p.m. Saturday, said CHP Officer Patrick Kimball.
The crash involved a white Toyota Camry and a gray Infinity sedan, Kimball said.
A person was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:43 p.m. Saturday, he said.
That person may have been a woman and the crash may have involved street racing, according to sources at the scene.
A representative from the coroner’s office was called to the location at 11:17 p.m. Saturday, Kimball said.
Paramedics dispatched to the scene at 10:23 p.m. Saturday rushed one person to an area hospital, according to a county fire department dispatcher.
That person was a man who suffered life-threatening injuries, according to sources at the scene.
The CHP also reported that “we have multiple suspects that we are looking for.”
