Two men were jailed Wednesday in connection with a pair of attempted burglaries in Torrance and investigators believe they were involved with a string of other similar crimes in the area.
Officers responded in the afternoon hours of April 7 to a report of an attempted burglary in the 3200 block of Danaha Street, according to Torrance Police Department Sgt. Ronald Harris.
“The resident, who was home at the time, took photos of a suspect and two possibly related vehicles,” Harris said. “The victim also retrieved images from their Ring doorbell and notified the Torrance Police Department.”
Detectives with the department’s Special Investigations Division later identified Martin Garcia, 19, of Los Angeles as a suspect, Harris said.
An investigation into a second attempted burglary that occurred during the same time frame in the 3200 block of Dalemead Street led to the identification of 23-year-old Tyree Faulkner of Los Angeles as a suspect in that crime, Harris said.
“After collaborating with neighboring agencies, both Garcia and Faulkner were also identified as suspects of a residential burglary in the city of Rancho Palos Verdes,” according to the sergeant.
Garcia was arrested on June 18 and has been connected to seven burglaries outside of Torrance, while Faulkner was arrested on Tuesday and has been connected to seven burglaries, four that occurred outside of Torrance, Harris said.
Garcia was being held at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic in lieu of $400,000 bail and Faulkner was being held at the Inmate Reception Center in downtown Los Angeles in lieu of $200,000 bail, according to sheriff’s inmate records.
