Police, including SWAT officers, surrounded the Los Angeles home of a man suspected of firing shots inside and then barricading himself, but when officers entered, the suspect had left, police said.
Gunfire was reported just after 7 p.m. Monday by a family member in the home in the 300 block of East 56th Street, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison. The reporting family member was able to run to a neighbor’s house for protection, according to Officer Greg Kraft.
A SWAT team was called in to try to bring the situation to a peaceful resolution around 11 p.m. But around 1 a.m., officers realized that the suspect had left his house before the police arrived, said Kraft.
No injuries were immediately reported and police are investigating the incident.
