Police Tuesday asked for the public’s help identifying a man who asked for a job at a Watts business then shot the owner when he was told there was no hiring.
The shooting occurred about 5:10 a.m. Aug. 12 in the 1700 block of East 111th Street, between Wilmington and Compton avenues, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The suspect asked to speak with the owner of the business about employment and workers told him to come back another time because the company was not hiring.
The man located the owner who told him there was no hiring, police said. The suspect produced a handgun and fired multiple rounds at the owner striking him in one arm.
The suspect was described as Hispanic, 25-35 years old, 5 feet,10 inches tall, about 180 pounds, last seen wearing a long sleeve gray shirt and black pants, police said.
The suspect has a tattoo of three dots near his left eye and is believed to have tattoos on his neck. He identified himself to witnesses as Julian from the Lincoln Heights area and may have arrived at the business in a late-90s Honda Accord.
Anyone with information on the shooting was asked to call Southeast Area Detectives at 213-972-7886 and anonymous tips can be phoned in to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
