The coroner’s office Thursday publicly identified a man shot and killed after leaving a party in San Pedro.
Francisco Onofre Rivera, 21, was a Carson resident, coroner’s Lt. Larry Dietz said.
Two women were also struck by gunfire in the shooting, which occurred at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday in the 1900 block of South Meyler Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers responded to the scene and were directed to the wounded man, now identified as Rivera, who was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, police said.
The wounded women were also hospitalized and were expected to survive, police said.
The man had just left a party and was on the east sidewalk when an unknown suspect opened fire, police said.
A motive and a description of the shooter or shooters were not available, but the shooting is not believed to have been gang-related, according to the LAPD.
Anyone with information about the shooting was urged to call 310-726-7889 or 310-726-7879 to speak with the Harbor Station detectives investigating the case.
During non-business hours, calls should be directed to 877-LAPD-24-7.
