An apparent domestic dispute led to a pre-dawn shooting Thursday that left a 29-year-old woman dead on a roadside in the Fairmount Village area.
Witnesses began calling 911 shortly before 5:45 a.m. to report a loud quarrel between and man and woman and ensuing gunfire in the 3800 block of 46th Street, according to San Diego police.
Patrol officers arrived to find the victim lying on a sidewalk in front of a pawnshop with a single gunshot wound to the chest. The woman, whose name was withheld pending family notification, died at the scene.
A 28-year-old man — the father of the victim’s two children — was arrested nearby, acting Lt. Michelle Velovich told reporters. The suspect’s identity was not immediately available.
The argument that preceded the deadly gunfire apparently began at the couple’s nearby home, Velovich said.
