Authorities Thursday released the name of a man who was struck and killed by a Metro Expo Line train at a station in the West Adams area.

Lawrence Furbush, 42, of Los Angeles, was alone on the platform when he fell backward onto the track and was struck by the train about 1 a.m. Wednesday at the Farmdale station near Exposition Boulevard and Farmdale Avenue,. according to police.

The train that struck him did not stop because the conductor did not realize the train had hit someone, police said. The body was seen by someone in a second train, which stopped.

Furbush was pronounced dead at the scene.
