A pedestrian who tried to run across State Route 74 in Perris Friday evening was struck and killed by a vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.
It happened at about 7 p.m., where River Road intersects with SR 74, the CHP reported.
The man died at the scene, authorities said.
The victim was withheld, pending family notification.
Witnesses told CHP officers the man got off a bus, ran to the center divider and began waving his arms and hands to try and get vehicles to see him as he tried to run across the other side of the road.
The driver of the Hyundai reportedly stayed at the scene.
