A Palm Springs man was charged with burglary Thursday after a homeowner remotely viewed surveillance footage and alerted police, who caught the man in the act.
Officers responded to a burglary-in-progress report at a home in the 900 block of Crescent Drive at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday and immediately surrounded the house with the suspect still inside, according to Palm Springs police.
Alex Enver Perdriel, 41, was arrested upon exiting the house.
Police credit the homeowner’s use of a “good video surveillance system” with increasing the chances of catching the man.
“The use of live video in this investigation proved to be an extremely useful tool, which led to the capture of Perdriel before any property could be taken or damaged,” according to the department.
Perdriel remains jailed in the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on $35,000 bail.
He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on Friday.
