Fire caused the roof of a commercial building in Cudahy to collapse Tuesday morning before firefighters were able to extinguish most of the blaze.

Los Angeles County Fire Department crews responded to the vacant building near Atlantic Avenue and Cecilia Street about 3:15 a.m.

“After about 10, 15 minutes of fighting the fire we did have some roof collapse and we had to pull all those units out and go to defensive mode using master streams and ladder pipes from our truck companies” while battling the blaze from the exterior, Fire Department Inspector Chris Reade told NBC4.

The cause of the fire was unknown, but multiple media reports stated arson investigators were called to the scene.

Crews remained at the scene to put out hot spots.

No injuries were reported.
