A 46-year-old man was convicted Thursday of sexually assaulting two girls related to his live-in girlfriend in Santa Ana.
Hector Rojas Medina was convicted of two counts of lewd acts with a minor younger than 14 and two counts of sexual intercourse with a child 10 years or younger, all felonies. He is scheduled to be sentenced June 5.
One of the girls was 12 years old and the other was 9, according to court records.
One of them told a teacher about the abuse in September 2017, according to court records.
Medina was living in a converted garage with his girlfriend, who was looking after the victims because their parents sent them to escape gang violence in their community in Mexico, according to court records.
