A 29-year-old man was arrested Wednesday by Pomona police and booked on suspicion of murder and other charges stemming from a fight late last year that resulted in a man’s death several weeks later.
Quintial Brown allegedly got into a brawl with the victim in a parking lot in the 600 block of East Holt Avenue, near North Towne Avenue, on Dec. 29.
Brown was arrested the same day, but was later released due to “insufficient evidence and potential self-defense issues,” according to Pomona police Sgt. Scott Hess.
Pomona police detectives continued to investigate and uncovered new evidence regarding the circumstances of the fight, leading to a warrant for Brown’s arrest, according to Hess.
The victim, whose name was withheld, was hospitalized with severe head trauma and died on Jan. 13, police said.
Brown was arrested without incident about 2 Wednesday afternoon in the 3100 block of West Temple Avenue in Pomona and was booked on suspicion of murder, robbery, criminal threats and witness intimidation, according to Hess.
