A man who worked for the Department of Homeland Security was sentenced Monday to three years in prison for killing a man and seriously injuring the man’s wife for a DUI crash on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Pomona in 2017.
Luis Angel Ureno, 29, pleaded no contest last month to one felony count each of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated without gross negligence and driving with a .08% blood alcohol content causing injury, according to the District Attorney’s Office.
Ureno was driving at a high rate of speed when he crashed into the back of a vehicle driven by Hector Soltero shortly after midnight on Sept. 18, 2017. Soltero, 42, was killed, and his wife, Roxana Pena Beltran, suffered major injuries.
Ureno was an officer with the Department of Homeland Security at the time of the crash.
