An Indio man pleaded guilty Thursday to robbing two Palm Desert banks last year and was immediately sentenced to 13 years in state prison.
Christopher Thomas Franco, 43, was arrested June 19, 2019, in the 83500 block of Indio Boulevard, days after the robberies, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Franco was later charged with two felony robbery counts. He plead guilty to both counts as part of a plea deal with prosecutors, said John Hall, spokesman for the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
The first heist occurred at a Rabobank in the 41000 block of Cook Street June 14, 2019, with the second one only a few miles away at Pacific Premier Bank on Fred Waring Drive, sheriff’s officials said.
Authorities did not disclose how much money was stolen from the two locations.
Investigators said at the time that they believed he worked alone.
