A driver died in a multi-vehicle crash on the Long Beach (710) Freeway in Compton, the California Highway Patrol said Sunday.

The crash occurred on the southbound 710 at Alondra Boulevard at 8:35 p.m. Saturday, the CHP reported.

The age and gender of the victim, believed to have died at the scene, were not immediately disclosed. The person’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A Sigalert was declared by CHP at 9:14 p.m. and all southbound 710 lanes were shut down at the crash site for the investigation.

Three lanes were reopened around 9:45 p.m., and remaining lanes were reopened about 11 p.m.
