A pedestrian was struck and killed Monday near downtown Los Angeles, and a motorist was detained for questioning, police said.
The pedestrian, in his 50s, died at the scene of the collision, which occurred about 11:30 a.m. near Santa Fe Avenue and Third Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. His name was not immediately released.
The circumstances of the death were under investigation, but there was no immediate indication that the motorist was impaired, said LAPD Officer Tony Im of the department’s media relations office.
