A 19-year-old man accused of publicly exposing himself in La Quinta was out of custody Wednesday on $5,000 bail.
Christopher Duran Jr. of Thermal was arrested Tuesday in the area of Avenue 58 and Madison Street on suspicion of indecent exposure and booked at the Indio jail before bail was posted for him later that day, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. David Aldrich.
The arrest was the culmination of an investigation spanning several months by deputies from the La Quinta Special Enforcement Team, which was looking into “a series of indecent exposure incidents that were occurring in the area of Avenue 58 and Madison Street,” sheriff’s officials said.
On Tuesday morning, deputies located a vehicle belonging to a person thought responsible for the crimes and made a traffic stop, where Duran was detained in the same area where the alleged incidents were reported.
Duran was later arrested after he was “positively identified as suspect,” authorities said, although it was not immediately clear whether it was a victim in the alleged crimes who confirmed he was the man responsible.
Duran is scheduled to be arraigned at the Larson Justice Center in Indio on Sept. 2, jail records show.
Anybody with additional information related to case was urged to call Deputy Preciado at the sheriff’s Thermal Station at 760-863-8990.
