A 60-year-old homeless man was charged Monday with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing a fellow transient and attacking three others near a Garden Grove church.
Edwin Sepulveda Margarit is charged with attempted murder, two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon and two misdemeanor counts of brandishing a weapon, according to court records.
Last Wednesday about 9:45 p.m., Margarit got involved in a dispute with 57-year-old Richard Bihner in front of Garden Grove United Methodist Church at 12741 Main St., Garden Grove police Lt. Carl Whitney said.
Margarit is accused of stabbing Bihner several times in the chest, as well as lunging at and threatening two other men and a woman who camped out with the victim around the church, Whitney said.
Bihner’s wounds were not considered life-threatening, Whitney said.
