A Los Angeles Police Department officer was among up to eight people injured Wednesday evening in a multi-vehicle crash in South Los Angeles.
The accident occurred about 9:50 p.m. in the 100 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, near Main Street, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Details of what led up to the crash were not immediately available.
Officers tried to pry the driver’s side door of the police vehicle open until Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics arrived and were able to free the officer from the wreckage. The officer was placed on a gurney and rushed to a waiting ambulance.
Two people suffered critical injuries and six others sustained minor injuries in the crash, according to the LAFD’s Brian Humphrey.
