A loaded gun and cocaine were found by police inside the vehicle of a 22-year-old man pulled over for speeding in Pomona.
Officers with the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force were patrolling in the area of San Antonio Avenue and Mission Boulevard at 10 p.m. Friday when they spotted a speeding vehicle that made an unsafe turn, then failed to yield for a stop sign, according to Sgt. M. Medellin.
The driver, identified as Wascar Santillanes of Pomona, was stopped near Reservoir and Third streets and officers saw a handgun magazine in plain sight and Santillanes admitted he had a loaded gun in his vehicle, Medellin said.
A search of the vehicle turned up a loaded 9mm gun with the serial number “purposely removed” and a “personal use amount of cocaine,” Medellin said.
Santillanes was arrested and booked at the Pomona city jail.
