A 54-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle and killed in Huntington Beach was identified Sunday by the Orange County coroner’s office.
Officers responded to the intersection of Warner Avenue and Bolsa Chica Street at 11:05 p.m. Friday and found David Stame down and suffering from extensive injuries, according to Sgt. Matthew Austin of the Huntington Beach Police Department and the coroner’s office.
A preliminary investigation showed the 66-year-old driver of a gray 2018 Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound on Warner Avenue when his vehicle struck Stame, who was crossing northbound at Bolsa Chica Street, according to Austin and the coroner’s office.
It was unclear whether Stame was in a marked crosswalk at the time of the crash. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Austin said.
Neither alcohol nor other drugs were considered factors in the crash.
Anyone who witnessed the crash was asked to call Traffic Investigator D. Demetre at 714-536-5670.
